My name is Rosa; I came to Canada in 1999. I worked as an accounting clerk
in past 4 years in Canada. But I got laid off in March of this year. At
that time I was so depressed, and I lost my confidence. This is the first
time in my life that I lost my job.
Early in June this year, I got a chance to meet Mr. Shakoori, and discussed
my job situation, he assured me with confidence that NAC AND GLOBAL
CHANNELS INC. can help me get back to work and in a higher-level position,
which, really impressed me.
In Sept. 2003, I enrolled in a training program at North American College.
Over here, I got comprehensive training in advanced bookkeeping concept;
accounting softwares; GST and PST and Payroll and Canadian Taxation
as well.
After I finishing my software training, I started co-op, which is actually
the best part of my whole training. In co-op, I got opportunities to work
with Mr. Shakoori, and couple of other Charted Accountant firms.
Mr. Shakoori customized my co-op training program on the basis of my personality
traits, job descriptions, past industry experience so that I can build
on my past experience and be able to get better position in the relevant
industry, which was Automobile sector.
I was given real business scenarios to work on and report to the senior
accountants and financial controllers. During this process I was involved
in SWOT profile analysis which improved my soft skills and self confidence.
During this period I finished complete accounting cycle of bookkeeping,
including GL, AP, AR, Payroll, GST and PST remittances to CCRA, trial
balance, draft financial statements for various industries under the
supervision of senior Charted Accountants.
After completing those assignments, my accounting knowledge, working
experience and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is amazingly
improved.
As a result of that on Dec. 22, 2003, I got a job offer from GM Auto-Dealer.
The position is Assistant to Controller. I am happy and excited! I got
what I was promised.
I would like to thank Mr. Shakoori, Mrs. Barbara and the teaching staff
of NORTH AMERICAN COLLEGE; and Global Channels. All of You enhanced
my confidence on hard working and well target focused training.
Fiona Xu
Account Receivable Specialist - St. Helen Meat Package
"My name is Fiona. I was an accountant in China. When I moved to
Toronto, as most of new immigrant, I cannot find accounting job during
the first year even I have 7 years accounting experience. I sent hundreds
resume but nobody call me back. I was so helpless until I found out about
North America College.
North America College really helped me to find out my professional job.
After 6 weeks computer accounting class, I took four weeks co-op. I used
Quickbook accounting system and entered accounts payable transaction,
accounts receivable transaction, and general ledge transaction. I generated
trial balance, balance sheet and income statement.
After Co-op I started my job searching. When I first received call from
employer regarding my resume. I was so happy. During 2 months after I
sent my resume, I received 5 calls and attended 4 interviews.
Although at the beginning, I failed in my interview. North American College
helped me again. Mr. Shakoori gives me lots of good advice. He advised
me which questions employer will ask and how to answer it.
Barbara always encouraged me not to give up when I failed in interview.
Finally I got an accounting job. I am working as Account Receivable Specialist.
This is permanent job in the manufactory Industry. I really do appreciate
Mr. Shakoori's for his guidance and help.
To jobseeker, my advice is to join North American College. They will really
help you; Thanks to Mr. Shakoori and thanks to the management of North
American College. "
Blanka Macaveiu
Accountant - Yolles Partnership Inc.
"I am a new comer from Yugoslavia. Mr. Shakoori and Mr. Chandi were
very helpful to me. After finishing my Co-op, I am very satisfied and
I think that everybody who comes to Canada needs to take these courses
specially with Co-op, because in this way you get Canadian experience
which is very important."
"My name is Ying. I am Canadian Citizen. I will be starting my new
job in Washington DC, US. from next Monday. I immigrated to Canada from
China five years ago. While working for Canada Custom and Revenue Agency
in Vancouver I completed my Diploma in Accounting Management.
After five years in Vancouver I moved to Toronto expecting better job
opportunities. Having Canadian experience I was quite confident of getting
an accounting job quickly. I sent out many resumes but got very few responses
and that was a source of great depression for me.
I was really confused and depressed; What is wrong! Having Canadian experience,
good communication skill, exposure to private and public organizations
and the relevant accounting education in both Canada and China! Why can
I not find a job!
This was the time I decided to visit North American College to seek some
advice to over come this situation. I had visited the North American College
two weeks after arriving in Toronto, but since I already had a Diploma
in Accounting, I did not think the college could do much for me and did
not join.
My disappointment in not being able to get a job forced me to rethink
my strategy of job search. I called the North American College again and
was advised by Barbara, the Course Counselor, to contact a former student
of the College who had been successful in finding a job. I contacted the
student who told me that the NAC would provide good assistance in job
preparation and job hunting.
After speaking to this student, I finally decided to join the NAC.
At the NAC Mr. Shakoori assessed me for my knowledge and skills, personally
and reached the conclusion that I was not deficient in knowledge of Accounting
but that I had lack of confidence.
I was advised to join the Co-op program to get knowledge and experience
of the new city of Toronto. Mr. Shakoori defined some special scenarios
and situations for me to help me regain my confidence. He also gave me
professional office training.
During the co-op program I was offered an Accounting job in the United
States. I was extremely nervous before the interview and thought that
I may fail and not be selected. When I discussed this with Mr. Shakoori,
he was very understanding and gave me very valuable advice on how to conduct
myself in the interview.
Mr. Shakoori and Barbara had me go through numerous mock interviews in
which they asked me the kind of questions that would be asked in the interview.
They also taught me the right strategy to follow during the interview.
When I went for my interview the training and advice given to me at NAC
proved very helpful and successful. I was able to face the interviewer
with more confidence and able to answer all the questions well. I am happy
to say that I have been offered the job and accepted it. I am very happy
that I made the right choice of coming to the NAC.
Most important asset that Mr. Shakoori taught me which I will never forget
in my life
Youth is golden stage in the life cycle of human being, where one should
even fight with luck! These words of Mr. Shakoori echo in my ears
and will remain with me forever. CHANGE WITH THE CHANGE OTHERWISE
CHANGE WILL CHANGE YOU! Knowledge is Power but application of knowledge
is GREAT!
I feel Mr. Shakoori, Barbara and everybody here are very helpful and professional
and they are always there to help the students.
Thank you Mr. Shakoori, Thanks everyone in North America College. "
"I am a new immigrant from Philippine. I am pleased to share my happiness
with NAC and thank North American College and Global Channel Inc. for
their support to start my career in Canada. I am working with Hudson Bay
Group in the Accounting Department.
In my point of view, the Co-op program at NAC is the best in town. After
four weeks at Global Channels I gained the confidence, which any employer
expects from their employee.
As a new immigrant in Canada, I suggest that anyone who wants to get
a job in the Accounting field should take the course at NAC with Co-op.
I would like to thank Mrs. Barbara and Mr. Shakoori for their support
and encouragement for my success in Canada."
I am Rafiq Saroor, coming from Palestine. Today I'm coming from my job,
I found everybody doing interviews, and I'm very happy with that.

all the experiences.
Today, I want to say that by good luck, I got the job by the support
of NAC, by the experience I gained while doing the Co-op Thanks again for
the co-op program, it was really hard at first; but now it's giving me self-confidence.
Thank you for everybody who trained me and now I'm happy with my job, happy
with the life in Canada. I'm recommending everybody to join NAC.
My name is Asad, I have done MBA and CMA. I was working in Saudi Arabia
as manager accounts before I came to Canada. I came to Canada in October,
and I was desperately looking for a job; however, everyone and my friends
advice that I have to get the local Canadian experience, and some Canadian
degree.
I contacted NAC for the computerized accounting. And they were very helpful;
they explained everything in detail and I joint them in the end of December.
To cut the story short, in less than two months, I got a job in Canada,
and my purpose I came to Canada was to get high quality of life and
make my career here, and I have made my life here and now I am happy more
than ever before. The key to my success is that NAC gives us not just training,
but also Canadian experience
My sincere advice for professionals who seriously want to pursue their career
in accounting and finance is that they don't have any other choice but to
join NAC and their co-op program, which has basically been designed what
the Canadian employers are looking for. Thank you, and wish you good luck.
My name is Daniela. I am a new immigrant from Romania. I'm here to thank
to NAC and Global Channels for their support to start my career in Canada.
I'm starting from next week, my dream job in Corporate in the accounting
department. In my opinion, the co-op program at NAC is the best program
I have come across. Of the four weeks at Global channel, I gained the
confidence that an employer is expecting from their employee.
As a new immigrant in Canada, I suggest that everyone who wants to get
the job in accounting field should take the course with co-op at
NAC.
I would like to thank to Mr. Shakoori, to Ms. Barbara, Mr. Shalim, and
Mr. Sayid for their support and encouragement for my success in Canada.
Hi everyone my name is Iris Wu, I come from China, and In China my Major
was Hospitality Management. After that I extended my study in Switzerland
for four years to study Hospitality Management and Business Administration.
After I came to Canada I thought about my career opportunity in Canada and
I decided to change my career from Tourism Management to Accounting.
Initially I was reluctant, but my knowledge that I acquire at North American
College made me more confident to pursue my career in Accounting. I would
like to mention specifically the role of the Global
Channels to over come the hurdle of Canadian experience.
At Global Channels
I was trained to do GST, PST, Pay Roll and Bank Reconciliation, I also analyze
Account Receivable and Account Payable. I really understood the accounting
Cycle.
While working with Financial Controllers and Senior Accountants I learned
what Canadian employer demands from Assistant Accountants. Mr. Shakoori’s
encouragement throughout my co-op was very remarkable. I will never forget
the session with Mr. Sayed, Financial Controller at Global
Channel who prepared me for the job requirement that I am going to do
tomorrow.
I would like to thank both North American College and Global
Channels for their support, training and encouragement because of which
I will be able to start my Accounting career in Canada. Believe me this
is not an organization but a “Hope Center”.
Anil Bhatia
Accountant - Travel Industry
Windows
Media Player
Hi! My name is Anil Bhatia. I am a Charted Accountant from India and a new
immigrant to Canada. Four weeks, after arriving, I realized that I would
have to get Canadian work experience and that was the only way to bridge
the gap between my Indian experience and skills and the expectations of
Canadian employers. My search for organizations that could provide both
training and the Canadian experience and make me job ready for the Canadian
market brought me to the North American College where I met Mr. Shakoori,
the President of the college. We had a long discussion and Mr. Shakoori,
outlined to me the training schedule and the Co-op program that I would
have to go through in order to make me job ready in the minimal amount of
time. Having gotten the details I was convinced that the North American
College was the best place for me to span the gap between my native experience
and the Canadian job market.
I joined the College and began my training. First I learnt all the accounting
software and then began my co-op at the college. As a first step we were
introduced to a number of experienced Chartered Accountants. As part of
the co-op program these CA firms gave to me a number of assignments that
I was required to complete. These assignments taught me a lot about the
Canadian business environment and my confidence in dealing with local accounting
issues began to grow and flourish. I, very soon, felt ready to face the
challenges of the Canadian market.
Mr. Shakoori then arranged a meeting for me with two job developers and
consultants. They enlightened me on both the expectations of employers and
how best to make use of the new training and skills that I had acquired.
They also helped me develop an effective resume, highlighting my skills
and the usefulness of my prior experience.
When I began sending out my resume, the responses were extremely encouraging.
I was even invited to a number of interviews and in order to test my ability,
I was given a number of assignments to complete. And then, I got the employed
assignments very soon from accounts of an employed agency. I was finally
able to find a permanent job in the travel industry.
Mr. Shakoori was extremely helpful during all this process and was kind
enough to help me prepare for the interview and give me tips on how to conduct
myself. My success, in landing the job owes a lot to Mr. Shakoori's continuous
help and encouragement.
I now have a satisfying job in my own profession and very much settled in
the Canadian environment. I plan to further upgrade my skills to advance
my professional career in Canada.
My advice to new immigrants, especially those with an accounting and financial
background, is not to waste time in lengthy job searches. You need somebody
to train you, to guide you and to make you job ready in accordance with
requirements of the Canada market. I highly recommend the North American
College and consider that it is the best place to get training and the necessary
experience. The staff is extremely nice and helpful and the teachers are
very competent. Mr. Shakoori, especially, is very, very helpful and shows
great concern for each student. My personal experience is that he helps
you to gain both experience and confidence. From training to the interview
he is with you all the way, guiding, counseling and encouraging you like
a greatly concerned guide.
One feature, of the College, that I found most impressive was that it gives
customized training and does not waste your time unnecessarily. As in my
case, my accounting background was very strong, so the training was customized
and more stress was laid on adapting me to the Canadian job environment.
I did not have to waste too much time in repeating courses that I already
knew well and I succeeded in getting a job in the minimal amount of time.
So I consider the North American College to be the best place for new immigrants
and is the true path to success.
In the end I must make mention of Mr. Ravi too. H is also a Chartered Accountant
and we both trained together at the North American College. I am very happy
to say that, like myself, he was also successful in getting a very good
job. He is working in Ontario and is both successful and satisfied.
Calvin Madzorera
Assistant Controller - Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA)
My name is Calvin Madzorera, I have a B Acc, MBA, CIMA (UK) and I am doing
CGA Level 6. My wife came to NAC to do computerized accounting training
and I saw the quality of training manuals and realized that I required
similar training. I used those manuals to train myself.
I attended several interviews, some of which looked to be very promising
like in one instance there were only two candidates left. Despite those
several successful interviews, I never got any job offers, which made
me think that my qualifications may not be appropriate for the Canadian
work environment. I then realized that the main stumbling block was that
I did not have Canadian experience and Canadian Work reference. I then
decided to come to NAC to do co-op and obtain Canadian experience. After
reviewing my resume and previous experience, Mr. Shakoori told me to aim
for senior positions. Mr Shakoori provided me an opportunity to act as
Assistant Controller for Global Channels; an accounting firm which does
work for CA firms in GTA, position which requires commitment, determination
and demonstrated ability to operate under stress.
During the second day of my co-op training, we left the office at two
o'clock in the morning, I initially thought it was a 9.00 am to 5.00
pm. From there on, I got used to working under pressure and long hours
which is what is required for senior positions. In order to succeed
in the Canadian work environment, it requires self-discipline and commitment
and dedication to corporate goals and objectives. This is my advice
to all co-op students that they should not be expecting 9.00 am to 5.00
pm positions. After finishing my co-op training I continued my job search,
now armed with Canadian experience, which was my main missing link in
my job search. I have now got a job as any Assistant Controller. I am
now happy that I got a senior position, as result of the Canadian experience
acquired through Global Channels.
My advice to new immigrants is stop doing a wild goose chase but come
to NAC for product training and co-op, which will definitely put them
on the same footing with other job seekers. This is an investment in an
asset without any risk and the benefits exceed the cost and the results
are 100% certain. I am sincerely appreciating the assistance, which I
got from NAC and its staff especially Mr. Shakoori and Barbara.
Charles Madzorera
Compliance Auditor - Accounting and Finance Department in a software
development company
My name is Charles, I have a bachelor’s degree from Lester University,
in the UK and also CMA from UK too. I came to Canada about four years
ago. After arriving in Canada, I discovered that my qualification from
the UK is not good enough to get me a job in the Canadian market. While
I was in a senior position in my home country, I had to make a choice
either to go back home or to do what every necessary to break into the
Canadian market.
After exploring some options, I decide to enroll in the CGA program which
I completed in about two years while I was working for financial organization.
I was so confident that now I have acquired a Canadian designation in
accounting, getting a job in my own field would not be an issue for me.
In fact I quit my job as soon as I qualified from CGA. To my surprise
for two months I was applying for a job and I didn’t get an interview.
It was very frustrating and indeed discouraging. My confidence on Canadian
designation was shaken. Luckily in one of family gatherings, I met one
of the students from North American College who is working as an assistant
controller in a multinational firm, I discuss my situation with Mr. Calvin
Madzorera, who came to Canada two years ago. Calvin introduced me to Mr.
Shakoori of North American College in Global Channels Inc.
Mr. Shakoori assessed my situation and developed a customized accounting
and management program for me to over come my professional shortcoming
in Canadian perspective. I was briefed about some accounting software
packages and was assigned in Assistant Controller’s role Global
Channels. I must say it was a very demanding position which had multi-dimensional
aspects. On one hand I had to review the work of Jr. Accountants and on
the other I had to present financial statements to Charted Accountants
and board of directors. I have to do internal audit of GST/PST and payroll
for compliance purposes. I was no longer stranger to work related hours.
During this short period of time, my management and presentation skills
improved dramatically. I gained more confidence in my professional skills.
Mr. Shakoori helped me with my resume presentation, interview skills and
acted as my professional reference.
I started applying for senior jobs. This time I got the job interviews
within a few days. In the interview with employers I had no hesitation
and was answering questions with great confidence. Most of the tasks employers
asked in the interview, I had already completed at Global Channels. It
was after the completion of my customized program at Global Channels that
I got the job in reputable software company as Compliance Auditor in the
Accounting and Finance Department.
I am grateful to Mr. Shakoori and Ms. Barbara for their guidance, encouragement
and counseling. I have no hesitation in recommending the program to those
who are hoping in entering the Canadian job market. In fact the sooner
one starts the better. Thank you!
My name is Sherry, a previous student from North American College (NAC).
I came to Canada from China in 2001. Before I took course from North American
College, before I came to NAC I had completed one-year business program
from Centennial College, Canada. But after that I realized it's not enough
to find a job, I was not sure what to do.
I am luckily that I found accounting co-op program in North American college.
Within three months, I learned accounting theory knowledge and gained
working experience through real company project. The Staff in the college
are very responsible and patient, they try their best to help student,
with their experience, students can get useful guide that 's not easy
to find somewhere else. The school also has a good job search network
from various resources, such as agents, previous students. I'm one of
the students who get the benefit. I still remember how I got the job.
One pervious student called school for a position in her company, Mr. Shakoori
and Babara recommended me and another lady to go for the interview. At that
time, I wasn't so confident, but Mr. Shakoori and Babara encouraged me a
lot, and helped me prepare interview, even about what clothes I should wear.
Eventually I got the position, although another candidate had stronger background
than me. I appreciate what I learned from North American College, the help
I got from Mr. Shakoori, Babara, and other teachers, who help me have the
first step in Canada, and will affect me on the way to success in my life.

My name is Anna Pan. I came from China in
2001. In September 2002 I started pursuing my Bachelor's Degree of accounting
in York University.
After I studied for 2 years, I was trying to send out resume occasionally in order to see how's the market response. But I didn't get any interviews. I realized that I didn't have accounting-related experience and don't know any accounting software.
Fortunately, one of my fellow students in York University recommended me to talk to Ms. Barbara from North American College of Business and Information Technology. Ms. Barbara discusses with me, my past experience, current situation and future goals and strongly suggest me to take computerized accounting program with Co-op.
The learning experience at North American College was very exciting and beneficiary. The professor was very experienced and patient. We got systematically trained on popular accounting software, like ACCPAC, QuickBooks Pro, Simply Accounting, and MYOB.
After my software training, college arranged my co-op in an accounting firm. It was very demanding and challenging environments, where we have to work some times in reverse order and my work was directly supervised by senior Accountants.
At Global Channels I completed GST, PST, Bank Reconciliation, Payroll and general bookkeeping for various industries. I have to go to CRA, Ministry of Consumer Relation for compliance purposes.
Mr. Shakoori suggest me to improve my presentation skill, he prepared me for the interview. He also arranged my interview with job developer and learned how to survive on the job. I was exposed to the needs of employers and specific reporting procedures. As soon as I finished my co-op I started sending my resume to get the job. In 2 weeks time I got quite a few interviews, I was offered position in Accounting Department after HR department check my reference from Mr. Shakoori.
I am going to join my first job in my own field at the end of this month, I am very happy with my learning experience from North American and Global Channels. It's very informative and supportive during the whole process of my job hunting. One thing makes me more gratitude is that even after I got the job offer, the school asked me to come and provided me with extra training tailored to fit the specific industry I'll be working in and made me more comfortable with the job especially at the beginning period of time.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staffs of North American College and Global Channels. And I wish all the students in North American good luck in their future career development. My message to job hunters is to get a job you need software training and Canadian experience through some real co-op.

I'm writing to say thank you and thank North
American College. I made the right decision to chose NAC's PLC and Robotic
Course. I got a job very quickly after finished the course. Do you remember
five month ago when I first came to NAC, you gave me a very good explanation
about this course, compare with other school, I think NAC has the best teacher
and equipment. After I attended the course, I think NAC also has a open
mind management, they continued to invest to improve the Lab's hardware
and software, give us the state of arts knowledge of this field, Omron,
Siemens PLC, ABB robot. I do learn a lot in these course, which are very
useful in my job now, and I have a little suggestion about the course, we
should learn more about motion control, such as servo and stepper, it's
very helpful in the industry. Once again, thank you and NAC! Wish you all
the best!
This is my pleasure to inform you as an ex-student of your esteemed college
that, I have joined with ICYNEN CHEMECAL MANUFACTURING CO in Mississauga

Working for a Telecommunication Company
My name is Marie Paz Aran, I came from the Philippines. I am a Registered
Nurse back home. In order to continue my career as nurse, it needs to
be recognized by Canada. It is a long process so I decided to take Personal
Support Worker (PSW) course and came to North American College.
After completion of theory portion of the course I went to Central
Park Lodge for on the job training. I really learned a lot from there
when I was on the job training; I got the job offer by nursing home.
I am very happy that I got the job very soon. I would like to thank
my and the staff of North American College. Trust me, North American
College helped me a lot to land on the job.
